A look at what people are watching, reading, listening to, and learning about…

Top Five Movies
1. Tyler Perry's Madea Goes to Jail (PG-13)
2. Coraline (PG)
3. Taken (PG-13)
4. He Just Not That Into You (PG-13)
5. Slumdog Millionaire (R)

Notables: Tyler Perry has quite a winning streak when it comes to movies. Every one of them is a hit. The folks at Christianity Today Movies did a feature article on Perry a short while ago. Give it a read.

As I noted in Wednesday's Weekly Intersections, a quick look at the list of last Sunday's Oscar winners will tell you that the night belonged to Slumdog Millionaire. The talk among folks is that this year's most-celebrated movie is quite different from last year's most celebrated movie (No Country for Old Men). I'm not sure if you've seen Slumdog yet. I can honestly say I was rooting for it on Sunday night. It might not have been the best movie I saw in 2008, but it was second only to Wall?E as my favorite movie of 2008. Slumdog is rough in places - some violence amidst a heartbreaking look at poverty in Mumbai - but it's also teeming with a contagious joy. The actors in it are all in top form - especially the stunning work of the child actors. And speaking of those cute little kids, they are all back in the slums of Mumbai.

Top Five Books (according to USA Today research)
1. New Moon, by Stephenie Meyer
2. Twilight, by Stephenie Meyer
3. Eclipse, by Stephenie Meyer
4. Breaking Dawn, by Stephenie Meyer
5. The Shack, by William P. Young

Notables: I wish I could insert a little audio clip of the sound of me sighing or throwing something at my computer screen. Come on, people! Buy something other than Meyer! Please? We're trying to find some stuff to talk about, and we've talked about vampires enough, thank you very much!

Top Five Albums
1. Fearless, Taylor Swift
2. Uncle Charlie, Charlie Wilson
3. The Fray, The Fray
4. Dark Horse, Nickelback
5. I Am?Sasha Fierce, Beyonce

Notables: RollingStone is currently running a cover story on Swift. Sounds like a pretty down-to-earth girl who's bent on not becoming the next Britney. Overall, this list is a little boring. We've seen everyone before in previous roundups. That is, except Charlie Wilson. I know nothing about this guy. Actually - didn't he take part in a war or something?

You can be sure this list will look different next week. Why? Because U2 is about to take the world by storm with the release of No Line on the Horizon.

Top Singles
1. "Right Round," Flo Rida
2. "Dead and Gone," T. I. (featuring Justin Timberlake)
3. "Heartless," Kanye West
4. "Gives You Hell," The All-American Rejects
5. "Crack a Bottle," Eminem

Notables: And yet another boring list, because we've seen most of these songs. The only newbie is the tune from The All-American Reject - and man is it bitter. Revenge songs seem to be quite popular these days, don't they? Specifically revenge songs that concern old relationships. I guess the guys in AAR live by this credo: if she's just not that into you, heap curses upon her through music.

Top Five Web Searches (according to Google Trends)
*Exercise caution when searching; some topics may be inappropriate.
1. bridget moynahan
2. kris kristofferson
3. gisele bundchen
4. tom brady
5. brooke white

Notables: NFL quarterback Tom Brady and supermodel Gisele Bundchen got married in a secret ceremony. Hence items 3 and 4 - and item 1, who is Tom Brady's ex (and with whom he had a child).

Honestly, I have no idea why Kris Kristofferson is on here.

On last night's episode of American Idol, former contestant Brooke White stopped by to sing her new single.
