Links to places where the gospel meets culture

There's been a recent spike in U.S. suicides due to the faltering economy.
That last troubling link leads to this other troubling link: antidepressant drug use has almost doubled in America. (Note: You really should check out Leadership journal's "The Zoloft Dispensation," a look at pastoring in the meds age, when everybody's on something.)
The folks at Time have been running a lot of articles on marriage. This week's piece: "In Marriage, Worse First Can Mean Better Later."
This might be more of a prayer request than sermon illustration fodder, but I want to offer it nonetheless: there has been a recent string attacks on Christians in Pakistan. Frankly, I don't think we mention the persecuted church enough in sermons. This might be a good place to start.

How do you think this makes the widows in Nepal feel? Judging by their passionate protest, it doesn't make them feel too loved.
The government in India has decided to give free radios to the "untouchables" (those who fall in the lower caste of society) to help them stay connected to society. Nothing says "I love you" to someone like a gift that will continue to keep them at arm's length!
