Links to places where the gospel meets culture

The Chicago Tribune recently featured a story about Christian couples that share one email account to prevent infidelity.

Here's the lead-in to an intriguing story from the folks at NPR: "More than half of adult Americans report they have had a spiritual experience that changed their lives. Now, scientists from universities like Harvard, Pennsylvania, and Johns Hopkins are using new technologies to analyze the brains of people who claim they have touched the spiritual—from Christians who speak in tongues to Buddhist monks to people who claim to have had near-death experiences. Hear what they have discovered in this controversial field, as the science of spirituality continues to evolve."

I was led to this great story from the world of baseball via Challies.com. It involves the greatest baseball team of all time (the Cardinals, of course), one of the greatest players of all time (Albert Pujols, of course), and a dad who was just trying to snag a game ball for his son. (Yes, I am a Cardinals fan, bravely living in Chicago.)

In keeping with the sports theme for a moment, let's consider professional basketball player David Vaughn. He had it all. Then he lost it all. Here's his sad-but-ultimately-redeeming story.

Newsweek's Po Bronson and Ashley Merryman explore new research that says kids as young as six months judge others based on skin color.

In keeping with the baby theme for a moment, have you heard what babies and dogs have in common? They both make one simple mistake. I'm no scientist, but I'm pretty sure adults make the same mistake in their own way.

People are quitting Facebook and other forms of social media in droves. Click here to learn why.

How frustrating is it when you have a complaint, a question, or a concern, and no one seems willing to listen? Actually, no one is even there! Such is the case with most customer service lines. They effectively offer customer service without customer service. Richard Zoglin of Time magazine playfully reflects on the matter.

Get this: wealthier people clip more coupons than anyone else. I suppose that's one reason why they are wealthier.

A Thai man wondered what he must do to be saved from the sins of his past. Answer: Repent…and keep 4,600 scorpions as pets.
